樋口誠也は、写真を中心に映像制作を行ってきた作家です。樋口はSNSをはじめとした現代の写真の在り方や人との関わり方を、ユーモアを交えて探ってきました。本展「Headrest Theater」では、人類が絶滅した世界を舞台に、生命を得たパペットたちが人間を模倣しながら生活する様子を描いたインスタレーションを展開します。
ゲームや映画、写真の様式を織り交ぜた構成の中で、ぎこちなくも不気味に人間らしさを演じるパペットたちの姿は、写真というメディアが担ってきた「記録」の役割を浮かび上がらせます。

Higuchi Seiya is an artist who has primarily worked with photography and video. Through his practice, he has humorously explored contemporary modes of photography and human relationships, particularly in the context of social media.
In this exhibition, "Headrest Theater," he presents an installation set in a post-human world where puppets, having acquired life, mimic human behavior and go about their daily lives.
Blending elements of video games, film, and photographic aesthetics, the work features these puppets awkwardly — yet uncannily — performing human-like gestures, thereby evoking the role of photography as a medium of "record" and memory.

Higuchi Seiya



Born in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture. He graduated in 2018 from the Department of Video Media, Faculty of Media and Design, Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences, and completed his graduate studies at the Graduate School of Media and Design at the same university in 2020. His major works and exhibitions include "Camera Roll Card vol.1" ("the mufubooks exhibition," Chojamachi Cotton Building, Aichi, 2024 / "Minato Machi Art Book Fair," Minatomachi POTLUCK BUILDING, Aichi, 2023); "New Cosmos of Photography 2020 Award Winners Exhibition" (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, 2021); "Mer, Mail, Matière" (Gallery Cafe ULTRA, Hiroshima, 2021); "some things do not flow in the water" (Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, 2020); and "TROPICAL LAB 13: ERASE" (LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, 2019). He was awarded the Grand Prize at the "New Cosmos of Photography" in 2020.

Okada Kakeru

Born in 1989 in Tochigi Prefecture. He completed his Master’s degree in Media Imaging at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2015.
His major curatorial projects include "Exhibition Surrogates" (TURNER GALLERY, Tokyo, 2024); "Over the Mountains" by Yamazaki Wakako (Kinkan Gallery, Tokyo, 2023); and "alpha" by Hasuwa Tomoko (TURNER GALLERY, Tokyo, 2022).
Since 2020, he has been active as a publisher and founded the publishing label "paper company," through which he produces artist books and exhibition catalogues. His notable publications include the poetry collection "ANAMNESIAC" by Leo Elizabeth Takada (2024); the artist book ".xyz/provoked" by Takada Maru and Endo Yusuke (2024); and the Illustrated book "NO-RECORD-FOUND CERTIFICATE — 759 Insects —" by Iwasaki Hiromasa (2022).
